Luna Privacy Notice

Luna is a web app that walks you through starting a business with a step-by-step plan. Luna is run by Jurvia Technologies, LLC ("we" or "us"), 500 Kelly St, Sun Prairie, WI 53590.

This notice explains what information Luna collects, what stays on your own device, who we share information with, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • Your interview answers and your plan stay in your browser, on your device. We never receive them.
  • Luna does not have user accounts or passwords.
  • If you join the waitlist, we get your email address.
  • If you subscribe to Luna Plus, Stripe handles the payment. We never see your full card number.
  • Luna Coach, for Luna Plus, sends what you type to OpenAI to get a reply. Luna does not save the chat.
  • We don't sell your information. We don't show ads. We don't use analytics or tracking tools.

What we collect

We only collect information in these cases:

1. When you join the waitlist. You type in your email address. It is sent to Formspree, the service that runs our signup form, and Formspree passes it to us. We use it to tell you when Luna opens and to send you the free First Steps guide we promised. We don't use it for anything else.

2. When you subscribe to Luna Plus. You pay on Stripe's checkout page, not on Luna. Stripe collects your email address, your card or other payment details, and the billing address details it needs (often just your country and ZIP code). Through our Stripe account, we can see your name, email, billing address details, the card brand, the last 4 digits of your card, and whether your subscription is active. We use this to run your subscription, answer billing questions, and keep the records we need for taxes and accounting.

3. When you use Luna Coach. If you have Luna Plus and you send a chat message, Luna's server receives that message only long enough to ask OpenAI for a reply. Luna does not save it. Your interview answers go with that message only if you turn that on. Details are in "Luna Coach" below.

Basic technical information. Like almost every website, the companies that host and run Luna's pages (Vercel, Formspree, and Stripe) automatically receive basic technical information when your browser connects to them. This includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, your browser type, and the page you asked for. They use it to deliver the page, keep it secure, and stop abuse. Luna itself does not collect or store this information, and it does not log what you type in Luna Coach.

What stays on your device

Luna saves some things in your browser's own storage (called local storage) so your progress is there when you come back. This information stays on your device. It is not sent to us or anyone else.

  • Your interview answers. For example, where you are in starting your business, whether it's a business or a nonprofit, which U.S. state you're in, what you plan to sell, and whether you'll have workers.
  • Your checklist progress. Which steps you have checked off.
  • A copy of your waitlist email and the date you joined, so the page remembers you already signed up.

If you use Luna Coach, the open tab may keep that chat in session storage so you can scroll back. Session storage is cleared when you close the tab. The chat is not saved in local storage, and it is not sent to Luna to be stored.

Anyone who uses the same browser on your device can see this information. If you share a computer, you may want to clear it when you're done (see "Your choices" below).

When you print or save your plan, your browser does that on your device. Nothing is sent to us.

Luna Plus sign-in cookie

The full plan opens only after Luna's server checks your subscription with Stripe. If you return from checkout, the server uses the checkout session id in the link. It asks Stripe whether that session is for Luna Plus and whether the subscription is active or trialing. Luna does not receive your card number.

Checking by the email you used at Stripe is turned off unless we explicitly enable it. If it is on, anyone who knows a subscriber's email could try to sign in as them, so it stays off by default.

When the check succeeds, Luna sets one cookie on this browser. The cookie holds an opaque reference to the subscription and an expiry. It does not hold your name or email. It lasts 7 days. After that, the server checks with Stripe again. Choose "Sign out of Luna Plus on this device" to remove the cookie. Luna does not store the cookie, the session id, or your email on its own server.

Luna Coach

Luna Coach is a chat for Luna Plus subscribers. It answers from Luna's steps. It is general information, not legal, tax, or financial advice.

Luna Coach uses OpenAI. When you send a message, Luna's server sends that message, and a short recent bit of the same chat, to OpenAI so OpenAI can write a reply. We ask OpenAI not to store the conversation for later retrieval. Your interview answers are included only if you check "Include my interview answers with this message" for that message. The default is off.

Luna does not save your chats on its server. The open page may keep the chat in the browser's session storage until you close the tab. It is not saved in local storage.

OpenAI says API data is not used to train its models by default. OpenAI may still keep API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse. See OpenAI's policies and how OpenAI handles API data.

OpenAI is based in the United States. Content you send to Luna Coach may be processed in the United States and in other countries.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the companies that help run Luna, and only what they need to do their job:

  • Formspree receives your email address when you join the waitlist, and stores it for us.
  • Stripe handles payments and subscriptions. Stripe collects your payment details directly. Stripe may use its own cookies on its checkout page to process payments and prevent fraud. Stripe may also offer to save your payment details with its own service called Link. That choice is between you and Stripe.
  • Vercel hosts Luna's website.
  • OpenAI receives what you type in Luna Coach, and your interview answers only if you turn that on for that message, so it can write a reply. Luna does not send your name, email, or subscription id with that request.

Each of these companies also has its own privacy policy:

Formspree, Stripe, Vercel, and OpenAI are based in the United States. If you use Luna from outside the United States, information they handle will be handled in the United States. Content sent to OpenAI for Luna Coach may also be processed in other countries.

We may also share information if the law requires it, for example to answer a valid court order, or to protect people's safety or our legal rights. If Jurvia Technologies or Luna is ever sold or merged, your information may move to the new owner, and this notice would still apply to it.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your information.
  • We don't share your information for advertising.
  • We don't show ads.
  • We don't use analytics, tracking pixels, or tracking tools of any kind.
  • Luna sets one strictly necessary sign-in cookie when a Luna Plus subscription is confirmed. It is not an advertising cookie.
  • Your plan is built by fixed rules that run inside the page on your device. We don't send your interview answers to any AI service unless you turn that on for one Luna Coach message.

How long we keep things

  • Information on your device stays until you clear it. We can't see it or delete it for you.
  • Waitlist emails are kept until Luna opens and we've sent the launch email and the free guide. After that, we delete the waitlist within 12 months after launch, unless you subscribe. You can ask us to remove you at any time.
  • Subscription and billing records are kept while you subscribe, and for 7 years after that, for tax and legal recordkeeping.
  • Basic technical logs kept by Vercel, Formspree, and Stripe are kept for the time set in their own policies.

Your choices

  • Clear what's on your device. In the interview, choose "Start over" to erase your answers and checklist progress. To erase everything Luna saved, clear your browser's site data for Luna (in your browser settings, look for "cookies and site data" or "clear browsing data").
  • Leave the waitlist. Email us at hello@getcoachluna.com and we'll remove your email. Every waitlist email we send will also include a way to unsubscribe. Note: the "Clear the copy on this device" button on Luna's home page only erases the copy saved in your browser. It does not remove you from the waitlist.
  • Cancel Luna Plus. You can cancel anytime online with the Manage subscription link (Stripe customer portal), or by emailing hello@getcoachluna.com. Cancelling during the 7-day trial means no charge.
  • See, fix, or delete your information. You can ask us for a copy of the information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@getcoachluna.com. We'll answer within 30 days. We may need to keep some billing records if the law requires it. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under the law. We'll honor these requests no matter where you live.

Keeping information safe

All of Luna's pages use a secure connection (HTTPS). Card payments happen only on Stripe's page, so card numbers never touch Luna. Luna has no user accounts, so two-step login is not offered. Subscribers manage billing through Stripe's secure customer portal. No system is perfectly secure, but we try hard to keep the information we have safe.

Children

Luna is for adults 18 and older. Please don't use Luna, join the waitlist, or subscribe if you're under 18. If we learn that we have a child's information, we'll delete it.

Changes to this notice

If we change how Luna handles information, we'll update this notice and the effective date at the top. If the change is a big one, like collecting something new, we'll tell waitlist members and subscribers by email before it takes effect.
